TERMINAL ILLNESS
My friend Katie is stronger than almost any person I have ever met in my entire life. I am not talking about how much she can lift or anything like that, I am talking about on the inside. A little over a year ago, she found out that her father has a terminal illness. She is the oldest of three siblings, and along with her mom, is really the caretaker of her father. They all moved to Florida to spend the rest of their time together. Katie go a job in a law firm doing Tampa bankruptcy filing. In addition to that job, she helps take care of both of her younger siblings and other stuff around the house when her mother is at the doctor’s office and other appointments with her father. I could not imagine having to step into such a role at her age. To accept that kind of responsibility in the face of the situation is admirable and brave. I have her and her family in my prayers, and I can only hope that her father lives out the rest of his life in peace and tranquility. It is hard knowing that there is nothing that you can do for your friend, but she knows I am here for her.
